There are plenty of forums where you can find answers from random people on the internet rather than trained TM teachers This isn't one of those forums. Anyone who learned TM through official channels has the right to go to any TM center anywhere in the world, for free, for the rest of their lives and ask such questions, so it does no-one any good to attempt to provide such answers on internet forums. TM teachers are trained to answer such questions properly, both as far as the information goes, and as far as the proper context in which to answer them. Please do not post "How do I do?" questions nor attempt to answer such questions. Also, TM should be accompanied by a good diet, exercise, and consistent sleep patterns for the full effects of TM to take place. It is recommended that you do not eat before meditating, or when you are full. TM is an effortless practice best learned by a teacher. This practice takes 15-20 minutes (depending on your age), and is done twice a day (Morning/afternoon). To find a better definition come here: here.īut if you would like to see a quick overview of the practice on this subreddit: BUT Keep in mind that you have to be taught the meditation by a professional, licensed, and paid instructor, who will give you your mantra and lessons in a month's time, in order to practice the meditation as a lifetime tool. ![]() If you have any pain, discomfort, or strange side-effects from TM, be sure to contact your instructor FIRST before coming to this subreddit for help. Also, everyone experiences TM differently and the effects are usually not immediate. I only am and have been an avid participant of the practice of TM for a year and a half. I am in no way affiliated with the TM organization monetarily and was not persuaded in any way by any members of the TM organization. Suggest TM schedules, teachers, and other activities to accompany the practice.Īlso to request AMA's of celebrities who practice the meditation! Present stories, experiences, and perspectives on the practice. Pose questions about TM: its motive, origin, etc. That’s why I called the book Super Mind and I’m really really excited to be sharing it with all of you.R/transcendental moderator annoys you? Try r/transcendentalmed Through the practice of meditation we can expand our potential, reach our maximum capacity and enjoy life to the fullest. So the many gifts of this new state of mind are actually summarized by the title of the book Super Mind. I describe how it helps us to be more engaged with other people, but also when the time comes when we need to pull back, it helps us to do that as well. I described how it helps us to get into the zone, how it helps us to grow as people, and to be more authentic and how not to be afraid of things that we had been previously. Super Mind, which incidentally is based on a survey of over 600 people, I characterize the state of consciousness I am calling the super mind. ![]() All this because we’ve taken two periods during the day to let ourselves slow down and access our transcendent consciousness through the practice of meditation-and now we are reaping the benefits throughout the day. The voices in our own mind are still and we’re able to open up to other people and to what’s going on in the world outside. We listen better which for me as a psychiatrist is a very good thing, but really all of us could benefit from listening better. There is a stillness in the presence of activity, an ease of which we do things that helps us be more creative, more productive, more available to other people and more available to ourselves. The blissful transcendent experience that normally begins during one’s meditation practice actually starts to filter into ones daily life. As I continued to practice meditation, I found to my amazement and delight that consciousness began to grow. When I had finished writing Transcendence I thought I had said all that I needed to say on the subject of meditation, but I was wrong. Like a previous book of mine Transcendence, it also deals with Transcendental Meditation but this one actually goes much beyond the earlier book. I’m delighted to be telling you a little about my latest bestselling book Super Mind. I’m a psychiatrist, researcher and author.
